"Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him…Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord."
Psalm 128:1, 4
Fear of the Lord is twice revealed as a blessing in this psalm (vv. 1, 4). Before we determine our blessings by the number of our children, the money we have access to, or the length of years we have lived, we need to ask: do we fear the Lord? Do we acknowledge his majesty and give him glory? One day, we are promised, we will be raised, and we shall see Jesus, face to face. This does not diminish our hopes and dreams for this life, but it reminds us that they are not our final hope. The blessing that awaits us is a multitude no one can count – worshipping the risen Lamb.
