Daniel 1:8-9 (Mark Hong)

"But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel."

Daniel 1:8-9

Daniel knew that refusing the king’s food was a decision that could cost him his life, yet he held firmly to his principle of not defiling himself before God. His courage to stand firm without compromise, even in unfavorable circumstances, is a powerful example for our faith today.

Daniel did not know how things would turn out, but he acted with the belief that God would take responsibility for the outcome.

His example shows that faith is not merely an idea but is expressed through decisions and actions.

Even in the foreign culture of Babylon, Daniel maintained his holiness and his identity as God’s child. This teaches us the importance of remaining faithful and distinct in our faith while living in the world.

The greatest lesson we learn from Daniel is a life that keeps spiritual principles and trusts in God completely.

Closing Prayer

Forgive me, Father, for those times when I forget the fact that you are with me. Help me to live and act in the reality that you are always present, always caring, and ready to carry out your will.
