Mark 11:22-25 (Mark Hong)

“‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.’”
- Mark 11:22-25 -

In Jesus' cursing the fig tree, we've learned that Jesus is the Judge that judges the sins of the world. He has divine authority to bring dead people to life or to wither a tree. We pray to God the Almighty and pray through the name of Jesus, our eternal high priest. When we pray to God, we need two elements: faith (22) and forgiveness (25).

1) Faith: Our faith in prayer is in God Almighty, who can throw mountains (impossible things to be possible). Thus, we need to have faith in God's answer upon our prayers (24). How often do we fall into doubt after praying? Jesus tells us, "believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (24b).

2) Forgiveness: It is essential in our prayers (25). We come to God through the grace in Jesus Christ. He died for our sins on the cross so that we have access to the throne of God. So we should forgive those who wronged us: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them” (25). Think about who you need to forgive today.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you in prayer. Please fill me with faith and grace in you. Let my prayer come to your very presence.
