"O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God."
Psalm 83:1
The heart cry of this psalm is for God to bring a judgment against those who are plotting against Israel. Here we can pause and think about God; is He the silent one? The deaf one? The aloof one? Is He the all-hearing, the ever-present one?
There have been many times in our life when we have wanted an answer from God. Times when we have felt that many of our personal prayers were being left unanswered. However, we know that God does hear, and that God does answer, even if the answer is ‘no’ or ‘later’—but waiting in silence can be so hard.
Yet, we should cling to the promises of God’s Word in the Bible, the promises that God is with us and for us, remembering that it is only through a test that we have a testimony.
CLOSING PRAYER
God of the past, the present, and the future, help me to trust in your faithfulness, no matter what my circumstances are.
