[ Ten Commandments of Gratitude ]
1. Thought is gratitude. The words think and thank share the same root. Deep thinking leads to gratitude.
2. Be thankful for small things. Even the vast ocean begins with tiny drops of water. Be grateful for what seems trivial or small, and you will find greater things to be thankful for.
3. Be thankful for yourself. Saint Augustine once said: “People marvel at the high mountains, the vast seas, the flowing rivers, the wide ocean, and the stars in the sky, but they pass by themselves without wondering.” Being grateful for yourself is very important.
4. Be thankful for everyday life. Breathing or seeing the clear sky are things we easily overlook. Gratitude for such ordinary moments is the hardest but most meaningful form of gratitude.
5. Be thankful for problems. Every problem comes with its own solution.
6. Be thankful together. Just as firewood burns better when stacked together, sharing gratitude with family multiplies it 30, 60, or even 100 times.
7. Be thankful nevertheless. Don’t wait for results to be grateful. Gratitude offered in the face of problems is beautiful.
8. Be thankful before you sleep. Most people go to bed with worries and complaints. Gratitude before sleep cleanses the soul.
9. Believe in the power of gratitude and practice it. Gratitude has an echo effect. What you are grateful for comes back to you.
10. Be thankful for everything. There is not a single thing in your life that is not a gift of grace and gratitude.
