“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

John ends his epistle with the promise that God answers our prayers. It came from John's life experiences in Christ. So he said that we can have confidence when we approach God because God hears us and we have God's answer for what we asked of Him. It doesn't mean that God satisfies our greed. He said, “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us … we know that we have what we asked of Him”. Thus, we should pray according to His will, aligning our prayers with God’s will. It is truly wise to pray according to God's will for He sees a much bigger picture than we see. In short, He knows what is best for us. As we trust in His love, we have confidence in our prayer. We can start the year 2021 confidently in His love.

Prayer: Lord, I trust in your love that you gave your Son for us. Now we are your children; we live confidently in you as we pray for all the problems we have.
