“We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God, yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.”

God's divine love empowers us to live a life of love as mentioned in verse 19. God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sins that we shall not perish but have eternal life (Jn 3:16). Abiding in this great love of God, we are motivated to love others. We are empowered to love even our enemies. Living a life of love or not is connected to abiding in the Lord or not. Thus, our spiritual growth can be measured by whether we genuinely love others or not. Let us abide in the Lord, especially in Christ's love so that we live a life of love during the year 2021.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for our sins on the cross. Please pour out God's love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that we live a life of love everyday.
