“When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. ‘Look,’ he said, ‘I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’”
- Acts 7:54-56 -
Humanly Stephen was in the most terrifying situation as the members were furious and gnashed their teeth at him (54). Instead of being filled with the terror, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. He looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing from His throne. They were cheering for his faith.
So he died in Peace as he prayed in verse 59, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” He also died, Forgiving those who were stoning him; he cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them” (60). What a glorious death Stephen died.
Vision and I signed our Power of Attorney for Health Care; it contains who will be responsible for the decision we can't make for ourselves and who can visit me if I am near death and what music can be played and so on. Since then, we have started to talk what kind of death we will die. Stephen's death is a role model to bear the witness of Jesus and die, seeing the glory of God and Jesus. Die in complete peace and forgiving all who wronged to us. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit everyday so that my life may bear the witness of Jesus and I may be in your glory. Hallelujah!
