“But the Lord said to Ananias, ‘Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.’ Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’”
- Acts 9:15-17 -
In this text, we see how one can play an important role in the work of God's kingdom. Ananias was an ordinary person like ourselves. But God chose him to help and restore Saul, who became the apostle Paul. Being used greatly for the work of the kingdom of God, Ananias' help was great. God told Ananias that Saul is His chosen instrument to preach the gospel to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel (15-16). Ananias immediately obeyed God. Ananias’ first word to Saul was, ‘brother.’ He accepted him despite his past life (a cruel persecutor). He placed his hands on Saul to be healed and be filled with the Holy Spirit. In this way, Paul's new life as an apostle had begun. It turned out to be the big moments in God's history.
We too can be used like Annaias to bless one in sickness to be healed and to be filled with the Holy Spirit that he can even contribute greatly to God's kingdom. Yesterday, I met a young man who recently lost his mother suddenly. I can read his pains and sorrows within him. He even asked me what passage can be good for him to see God's kingdom in the Bible. I recommended him to read Revelation chapters 21-22. I also suggested that we do 1:1 Bible study and he agreed to do it. I pray that this young man may have the touch of God. He too may be healed and be filled with the Holy Spirit as he pursues his future in the medical field. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for using Ananias' humble obedience and raising a big man, Paul. May you use us as Ananias in our time.
