“You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, as lovely as Jerusalem, as majestic as troops with banners.”
- Song of Songs 6:4 -
In Song of songs 6:1-3, we see the bride's looking for the groom and 6:4-9 is the groom's song of longing his bride. He confesses that his bride is as beautiful as Tirzah. Tirzah means 'joy' or 'beauty.' This city's surrounding scenery and the city itself were very beautiful. It was the capital of the northern kingdom, Israel from Jeroboam to Omri for about 40 years. You can see the joy of the groom as he sees the beauty of his bride.
He also said that her bride is as majestic as troops with banners. It describes the role of Christ's church, the bride of the Lamb. It tells about our spiritual battle we face against the devil and it also assures of our victory in the Lamb.
Though the groom and bride had a conflict in chapter 4, we see the groom sing of her beauty and shows his great love to her. It reflects Christ's perfect love for us that He gave His life for us. He sees you and me as beautiful as Tirzah. Hallelujah.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your unfailing love. Let us praise His great love and stand as His beautiful brides in this world.
