I grew up in a Third-World country. In 1950-60s, S. Korea was in at a developmental staged; many of us were very poor. At that time, the message of Jesus' second coming into the church was such a good news for He will right all wrongs, bring His eternal kingdom. That hope and expectation of Jesus' return tends to get weaker when things are going well, living in affluent societies. Yet in this world, we go through many troubles, such as the COVID trauma, natural disasters (flooding in China and earthquake in Haiti), and many other tragic events. It clearly shows us that our real hope is not on this earth. The day of the Lord! It is the day of a great deliverance! It is the day of our true hope.
