"Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself...so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."
- Hebrews 9:26-28 -
In our text (9:23-28), we see three occurrences of the word ‘appear.’ Christ has once appeared (26); He currently appears for us in God’s presence (24); and one day He will appear again (28). Through His first appearance (26), He accomplished the complete and perfect sacrifice for us. His current appearance (24) means His ongoing intercession (Heb 7:25). His third appearance (28) is the inauguration of the new heaven and new earth (Rev 21). He will triumphantly complete what He has already finished! Hallelujah!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your appearance 2000 years ago and current appearance in the Spirit and your coming back in glory. We look forward your coming.
