“The Lord answered, ‘Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant, whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.’”
- Luke 12:42-44 -
Jesus taught that we should not be greedy nor worry over material things (22-34). In our text, Jesus teaches us that we should be watchful for His return and be faithful. We see three parables in the text (the parable of the faithful servant who waits for his master's return 35-38; the parable of a thief 39-40; the parable of a good servant and a wicked servant 42-48). The common theme in them is you don't know when Jesus is returning. Therefore, we must be ready and be faithful in the service of the Lord. We then are rewarded and can participate in His kingdom.
Prayer: Lord, though we are going through a dark period in time, we put our hope in your glorious return. Help us to be faithful each day in the business of Your kingdom as we await Your imminent return.
