Genesis 4:6-7 (Mark Hong)

“Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.’”
- Genesis 4:6-7 -

It is controversial why Cain's sacrifice was rejected and Abel's sacrifice was accepted by God. However, the issue the author dealt with is how Cain took it. In the same way, we feel unfair with life's situations. You may be looked down on and others get the promotion. God challenged angry Cain to do right; he then would have been accepted by God. Sin crouches at our door; we must rule over it (6, 7). It is our everyday's spiritual battle to rule over our sins; we don't murder but we are familiar with envy, jealousy, anger and covetousness.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your great love for us. Help us to acknowledge it and offer the right sacrifice to you with thanksgiving. Help us to rule over the sin that crouches at our door with the help of the Holy Spirit.
