“This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”
- Genesis 6:9 -
Genesis 6:5 describes the utter corruption of Noah's time: "The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." In that time, Noah was righteous; he kept himself blameless. How could he overcome the sinful culture of his time? The author teaches us that Noah walked faithfully with God. What does it mean to walk with God?
It is to live in the grace of God. Genesis 6:8 says, "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." It suggests that he held God's grace and thanked God. And God's grace was upon him. He was able to overcome the darkness of his time. In the same way, we also need God's grace to overcome our sinful culture. Like Noah, we should remember God's great grace in Jesus Christ daily and thank the Lord. So Paul said to Timothy, "be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus" (2 Ti 2:1).
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your great grace upon us in Jesus Christ. May we walk with you, giving thanks to your grace.
