He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’”
- Mark 6:11-12 -
Today’s passage has a quote from Isaiah 6 that describes God's judgment on those whose reject the words. Thus, it is not enough to see Jesus' miracles or to hear the gospel. We should receive the words with repentance, our hard heart, our greed of the world, worries of this world. Then the word that has the life of God in it will bear the rich fruit of God's kingdom.
The quote from Isaiah 6 mentions three different time periods; Isaiah's time, Jesus' time and our time. People in Isaiah's time rejected Isaiah's message from God. People in Jesus' time rejected the words of Jesus. Our time is the same as people in Isaiah's time and Jesus' time by rejecting the truth of God. Jesus invites us to soften our hearts and receive His words and bear rich fruit for His kingdom. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Dear Lord, soften our hearts through your Holy Spirit so that we hear and understand your words and bear the fruit of your words in our life.
