Ephesians 4:22-24 (Mark Hong)

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
- Ephesians 4:22-24 -

In the previous text, we see the importance of unity in Christ (1-16). Our text teaches us the personal walk with Christ that we live a new life from the old way of life (17-24). In the past, we in the futility of their thinking, darkened and separated from the life of God. Having lost all sensitivity, we had given ourselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity (17-19). But we are saved by God's grace and we need to live a worthy of His grace. We need to do two things for this new life. First, we need to put off our old selves. In short, to deny to follow the corruption of the world. For this, we need to be made new in the attitude of our mind in the grace of God. Second, we need to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. It means that we dedicate ourselves in following the holiness and righteousness of God. We can accomplish this goal through the help of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for freeing me from the life of darkness and corruption through the blood of Jesus. Help me to put off my old self daily and put on the new self, created to be like God with the help of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
