“The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, ‘A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!’ While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.”
- Judges 7:20-21 -
We see in this text Gideon, who became a confident and competent leader from being the coward. This was what God saw in him to be a 'mighty man of valor' (6:12). The story clearly tells us that the Lord caused the Midianites throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords (22). Interestingly, the only swords, used are the swords of the Midianites on each other! The Lord Himself fought this battle as Gideon obeyed the Lord's instruction.
Even now, God is with those who obey Him, and through them He fights and achieves victory. The challenge is how much we trust and obey God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for fighting for us of our battle. May I trust in you and obey your leading like Gideon did.
